Rather strange story with the angels and demons fighting in the background. Also, a great story of Jesus and his life as a family man.
I appreciate a book that makes me stop and think. This story of how Jesus life might have been is very plausible and well written. I enjoyed reading it.
I enjoyed reading this tremendously. The author brought Jesus to life in this narrative. The writing is easy to read, simple to understand, yet profound. I couldn't put this book down. I highly recommended reading this book. It's good for people of all ages.
This is the third book in this fictional series about Jesus' unknown years and I must say it was the best. I love the way the author makes Jesus seem like a real person while his angels flit and fight around him. If Jesus had this much protection around him, do we as well? Hmm. This would make for interesting conversation in Children's church. These novels seem geared to middle grade readers, but they make a pleasant read for anyone who speculates about these unknown years.
The thing that I like best about Ted Sugges' books about Jesus' life is the way in which he tells the story...This isn't the grandiose, elegant poetry of the Bible...this is a real story about a real man, His real family, and His real friends. It's intriguing, and grabs your attention from the very first page. I don't want to ruin any endings. (wink, wink) But I will say that you won't want to put this book down until the last page. I'm looking forward to when these come out in hard copy. I like to hold a book in my hand when I read, or re-read it.
As I read the book I felt it was written at this time so people could have a more personal relationship with Jesus. He felt confused at times but always prayed for advice. He kept His heart and mind focused on the will of the Father. He taught fairness, compassion and love but also enjoyed life with his relatives and especially the children. The story of Joseph - his father - showed that everyone's life is important and even when Joseph felt he would be forgotten, Jesus reassured him that he would never be forgotten as Jesus and Mary's protector. Jesus explains that the Father never allows a person to have a challenge they cannot handle. At the end Jesus realizes His destiny and Angelo understands that even an angel must be obedient to the will of God. In reading the book you realize that life is not easy but there is always assistance from our angels and that being obedient to God and His commandments will bring you a peace that can only come from the Father.
The author does it again! The spiritual odyssey that he must have taken in researching and writing these books underlies the fascinating and mesmerizing way he weaves the tale of the Son of God who came to earth and lived his life as the Son of Man. There is no doubt that this series was divinely inspired and Christians of all denominations should be delighted with this unique reflection on the life of Jesus as told through the eyes of his guardian angel. Told with a perfect mix of humor and human drama, spiritual seekers of any age will be delighted with the story within.
